The Carbo Ratchamatic® is a load-controlled ratchet block that runs freely in both directions under low load; the ratchet is automatically engaged when the load increases. Switching from ratchet to operation is clean and seamless. Unloaded sheets shoot out like greased lightning when rounding. Asymmetrical spinnakers need the holding power of a ratchet, but immediately jib freely for the perfect, effortless jibe. And what do you think of this ingenious device: with a simple turn of the hexagonal wrench, you can adjust the ratchet engagement, whether for larger or smaller loads, according to your strength or sailing style. The horizontal Ratchamatic® block can be mounted on starboard or port side. The holding power of the 57mm sheave is up to 10:1, that of the 75mm up to 15:1. The optimum mainsheet system consists of a switchable ratchet in the cockpit and a Ratchamatic® on the boom above it, giving double the holding power in strong winds and free running in light winds.
