Sun sails / sun awnings

Boats and yachts should have an awning or bimini on board. It reflects the sun's rays and can noticeably mitigate weather influences such as rain. A UV-resistant awning provides particularly good protection against harmful UV rays. Awnings that are waterproof or at least water-repellent can also be used as rain protection and therefore offer a level of comfort that you won't want to do without on rainy harbour days.

Biminis are ideal for motorboats and motor yachts, as they can be left up while the boat is underway. Thanks to their stable construction, they can be opened or closed quickly if necessary. They are easy to install. A stainless steel frame is permanently resistant to the weather conditions at sea. On sailing yachts, a sun sail that is stretched over the main boom is more suitable. Versions that support the sail with additional crossbars made of fibreglass or carbon fibre are ideal here. This creates a large, almost horizontal roof, allowing a pleasant draught of air to flow under the awning.

A high-quality bimini on boats and yachts should be characterised by a small pack size and a slightly curved shape. Assembly without tools allows quick installation and removal. Light aluminium struts ensure a low weight and make the awning easy to stow. A sunshade with a bracket for the railing or winch is often the quickest to install and is therefore an alternative to a sun sail and bimini.
