Fascination in blueThe earth should not actually be called "earth" but "water", as water covers more than 70% of the earth's surface. For two years, Matevž Lenarčič flew around the globe in an ultralight aircraft to photograph these water surfaces. He took over 100.000 photos documenting the Earth's abundance of water in all its beauty:- the astonishing quantities of water in the endless rivers- water in the world's great deserts- icy glaciers- oceans "Water Worlds" covers the following regions and routes:- South Atlantic: Ljubljana - Natal- Caribbean: Natal - Cayenne - Sebring- North America: Sebring - Calexico- Central America: Calexico - Esmeralda- Ecuador - Peru: Esmeralda - Arica- Andes - Buenos Aires: Arica - Buenos Aires- Patagonia: Buenos Aires - Calafate- Antarctica: Calafate - Marsh - Punta Arenas- Glaciers of the Andes: Punta Arenas - Concepción- South Pacific: Concepción - Auckland- Australia: Auckland - Broome- Indonesia - Thailand - India: Broome - Patna- Mount Everest and Indian Ocean: Kathmandu - Jaipur - Trivandrum - Seychelles - Zanzibar- South Africa - Namibia: Zanzibar - Calvinia - Walvis Bay- Africa - Southern Europe: Walwis Bay - N`Djamena - Ljubljana- Europe - North Pole: Ljubljana - North Pole - LjubljanaThe view from Lenarčič light aircraft, just above the earth's surface, reveals an astonishing wealth of water and cultivable land. There are relatively few human settlements and plenty of open natural space. Lenarčič also set new standards in aviation with his flight itself: a 369-hour flight; a flight that covered 91,000 km across all continents and oceans and crossed the equator six times. Lenarčič's plane was the lightest aircraft ever to fly across the South Pacific, to Antarctica, over the summit of Mount Everest and Aconcagua. His flight tour was the flight tour with the lowest fuel consumption in the history of aviation and thus left the smallest ecological footprint.1st edition 2014, 400 pages, 220 color photos, 3 maps, format 28 x 32.8 cm, hardcover with dust jacket, Delius Klasing
