Sailing Conductors

How do you get back to Germany after a vacation in Australia? And how can the two passions of sailing and music be combined? Sailing conductors Hannes Koch and Benjamin Schaschek combine these wishes in a very simple but unique recipe: They buy a sailing boat for their trip home from Australia. They spend three weeks on the water and three weeks on land. They call it Expedition Music, because on each trip ashore, the two collect typical local music, make music together with the locals and record the whole thing. In total, the two want to record hundreds of musicians in 35 countries. But that's not all. The two young sailors also combine the recordings of different artists. For example, a melody from Jamaica merges with a short song from Thailand and a steel drum solo from Trinidad Tobago to create a completely new song. The aim of the two is to unite humanity across political and social boundaries and to show that this is exactly what the language of music can achieve.
