Pick-up Sail

The new 'pick-up sail' can save lives because it can be easily used by one person on his own. The pick-up sail is significantly safer than vertical rescue by means of a hal-yard on the lifejacket for example, or pulling up by the arms; the casualty remains in the horizontal position throughout the manoeuvre, which prevents a dangerous drop in blood pressure and undercooling. The sail is broken out in minutes and sinks quickly thanks to the weighted strip. Then even a heavy person can be pulled onto the sail relatively easily and hauled up on a winch.
