Sikaflex®-291: The versatile sealant for shipbuilding
Sikaflex®-291 is a high-quality, stable 1-component polyurethane sealant that has been specially developed for shipbuilding. When exposed to humidity, this sealant transforms into an elastic elastomer that is known for its outstanding properties.
Application areas
- Making elastic and vibration-resistant sealing joints
- Bonding bridge battens
- Sealing interior and exterior elements
Adhesion
Sikaflex®-291 is characterised by its excellent adhesion to materials used in shipbuilding. Suitable substrates include:
- Wood
- Metals and metal primers (2-component systems)
- Ceramic materials
- Plastics (UP-GFRP etc.)
- Plastics (UP-GFRP etc.).)
Important notes
Please note that Sikaflex®-291 should not be used to seal plastics that are susceptible to stress cracking, such as PMMA and PC.
