Product information "Weather info boxes"

Exact knowledge of the current and coming weather is far more important than many water sports enthusiasts know. Not only regatta sailors need this information in order to select the right sails or the optimum course, but also and especially hobby yacht owners should know what the weather is up to. Weather changes can occur rapidly and turn into a safety hazard. The German Weather Service broadcasts a maritime weather forecast for the next 24 hours, the next 2 and the next 5 days in German on the long wave frequency 147.3 kHz. The reports on 518 kHz are broadcasted in English and in the respective local language on frequency 490 kHz. The NAVTEX station in Hamburg broadcasts in German on 490 kHz. The transmission power of the NAVTEX stations vary and range from 150 to 350 nautical miles. NAVTEX broadcasts include nautical warnings and weather reports. The broadcasts are managed automatically. An additional antenna installation is not required, as the speakers have an internal ferrite rod antenna for reception. The internal battery lasts for approximately 4 days with permanent reception without PC and can be charged via the PC.
