Product information
At the heart of the new Zircon blocks are industrial ceramic ball bearings mounted in cages. The cages keep these bearings apart so that they do not clump together, touch and block each other.
The result is a VERY smooth running block with less energy loss due to friction than our current Carbo blocks. Give an unmounted Zircon block a good spin and it will spin for an incredibly long time.
Why ceramic ball bearings? Ceramic is a more familiar name for the metal oxide zirconia. Zirconia bearings are more than 700% stronger under pressure than stainless bearings of the same size.
Therefore, they do not deform when used within the recommended load limits.
