This simple but effective solution is totally transportable and allows complete freedom from a crane as well as half the number of crew! Sturdily built of aluminium tube with articulated rubber protected feet, it telescopes down for easy stowage on the trailer or at homeForget about booking the crane or queuing up in the harbour! At last, here’s a piece of kit that will allow you to raise or lower your mast when you want. The best bit is you can also lift out masts that are keel stepped without any great drama. Based on a sturdy shearleg (movable feet) arrangement, it is telescopic and lightweight so it can be easily stowed on deck or on the trailer and when in use is set up to the desired height and simply rigged with a line to the bow and the stern, with the central top eye taking a block and tackle. Used with a strop under the spreaders, the mast can now be lifted at the balance point and gently swung upright to pass the heel through the deck partners or onto the tabernacle. Max lifting height is 6.5m and max load is approx 120kg. Collapsed the derrick measures around 5m long and can be used in this mode to lift out small engines etc. Dismantled it only takes up around 2.5m.
